Stewardship

Stewardship is an age-old concept that Pizzo considers its highest priority. We define stewardship as the routine action taken to sustain the aesthetic and ecological integrity of a restoration. Traditional landscapes are maintained; natural areas are stewarded.

Once a natural area is created, restored, or enhanced, it must be stewarded in order to thrive. This process must begin immediately. If a natural area is not stewarded it will become overgrown with invasive and weedy species and will be aesthetically displeasing. The stewardship process involves monitoring the vegetation and reacting to changes as they occur over a period of time. A stewardship plan must be flexible. Natural areas tend to change over time; contractors must be able to recognize these changes and adapt their strategies accordingly.

Since 1988, Pizzo has been providing real, on-the-ground results. By leading the industry in stewardship techniques, we have built our business around a standard of success. We believe that our stewardship is so effective that we provide an industry-leading guarantee on all installations stewarded by Pizzo & Associates, Ltd. If you have a site that is in need of restoration or a restored site that once again is in decline, we invite you to contact us to discuss the implementation of a stewardship plan at your property.
